OSSCAR is being built on the best of breed open source software technologies. It's our intent to maintain OSSCAR as an open source platform. We are doing this for several reasons:
1) Reduce lifecycle costs for public safety organizations.
2) Accelerate widespread adoption (due to added operational value and no license fees).
3) Fully collaborate with the public safety community and industry (anyone may contrubute).
4) No vendor lock-in.
With all that being said, we're not a non-profit so in order to continue our efforts, we will charge a subscription fee (if you host OSSCAR through us), offer support aggreements in order to provide dedicated technical assistance and over-the-air updates, and professional services (if you have some priority integrations you want to get done yesterday).
